CHECK OUT THIS AMAZING SLIDESHOW: HERE

All Occasions Management wanted create two different experiences at the same venue for the Broker group Steadfast. This was to be done though catering and entertainment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Laissez faire was responsible for the following; menu and beverage design, table layout, colour of linen, centrepiece design and staff. On our first night we delivered a three course family style meal, lots of sharing of delicious food. We used rectangular tables and dressed the tables using white and natural colours. The second night was a complete change; we used oval tables, black linen and delivered an exclusive 3 course alternate serve gala dinner. Each night the wines matched the food served and on the first night we had staff wear all black and on the second night black and whites.
We also created within the venue two very different entry points to match the style of evening ahead.

CHALLENGES:
Ensuring all catering set ups met with tight turnarounds. Change room set up between dinners.

RESULTS
The event was a complete success. The client pointed out the lengths that we went into to create two very different evenings and how successfully it was delivered.

Next season is all about tailoring, tailoring, tailoring with all shades of colour as shown on the catwalk last night at the annual Fashion Palette Runway. Held at The Australian Technology Park Thursday 7th March, 600+ industry guests, fashion identities and consumers were seated by the runway as 16 designers showcased what is coming up for Australian fashion.

Guests such as Josh Flinn, Jules Sebastian, artist Brittany Cairns, Deni Hines, Elen Levon and model Kelsey Martinovich as well as a number of contestants from Project Runway were front row with the designers including Nicola Finetti, Akira and Bettina Liano, watching with a keen eye as the designs were revealed.

The looks were sophisticated, sharp and suave, contrasted with flirty, fun, bold prints and geometric designs. Leona Edmiston opened with her highly anticipated SS13/14 collection featuring a mix of soft pastels, bright colours and feminine prints.

Nicola Finetti led the way with their chic tailored pieces. Think short suits, pant suits, sharp blouses and symmetrical mini dresses next season. Twofolded demonstrated why they were a label to watch with classic structured designs that many remarked on after the show and Bettina Liano showcased refreshingly lighter pieces for summer paired with splashes of edgy leather.

Saucy Rose and Wild Pony presented their fun, bold and bright swimwear; a sure hit when the warmer weather of next summer kicks in.

Our ‘Next Generation’ of talented designers did not fail to impress. Couture designers Niki Teljega and Galanni showcased their collection of embellished sultry eveningwear which has fast become a celebrity hit, whilst Chiquita Searle, Sharnee, and Mossée smart, fun and ultra feminine ready to wear that left the industry in a buzz.

Mackenzie Mode and Gemeli Power showcased the bold print colours for the biggest trend next spring summer season whilst Zofara added the ‘wow’ factor with their exotic prints in designs of mini dresses, gowns and skirt/top combinations.

Akira showcased 10 of his best archived pieces whilst Arthur Galan AG closed the fifth annual Fashion Palette runway with pieces from his second drop AW13 collection.

The Priscillas Model Management girls were stunning in the 160 looks from the talented 16 Australian designers, styled by teams from Schwarzkopf Professional and Bodyography with nails by Minx Nails and lashes by Glam Manicare. Peeptoe showed off their must-have heels on the runway.

After enjoying pre-show drinks by Two Italian Boys, 28 Black, Illy Issimo, Perrier Water and Appletiser and canapés by Laissez-Faire Catering, guests gathered at the Glam Manicare lash bar and after the Runway were seen looking through their gift bags, full of products from Fashion Palette’s fabulous sponsors including Fashiontrend magazine. Best Buds sent the scene at the Fashion Palette runway with beautiful arrangements throughout The Australian Technology Park and Absolute Creative assisted with the design and production.

FASHION PALETTE LAUNCHES IN STYLE

Sydney’s style scene flocks to The Darling Pool to celebrate Fashion Palette’s fifth birthday at the VIP Launch

There may have been a cool breeze, but the atmosphere was sizzling as Fashion Palette kicked off their fifth anniversary with a suave affair last night. Since 2009, Fashion Palette has been celebrating and nurturing Australian designers and The Darling Pool offered the perfect cityscape and harbour combination to recognise last year’s expansion into New York.

The 250 strong fashion-savvy crowd included DJ Havana Brown, Miss Universe Australia Renae Ayris, Magdalena Roze, Zoe Marshall and Airlie Walsh as well as Lauryn Eagle, Kate Peck, Carmen Smith, Brittany Cairns and Amali Ward wearing garments from some of the 16 designers showing at the Fashion Palette Runway on Thursday evening.

Celebrating their participation in this year’s exciting program were designers including Niki Teljega, Chiquita Searle, Sharnee Lamb and Catherine Vasilas from Galanni

Guests were transported to New York City and were treated to a dazzling display of entertainment with fire breathers, trumpet players, bundles of yellow balloons and floating umbrellas in the pool. Live mannequins captured the guests’ attention, dressed in incredible yellow ribbon dresses made by designer Stephanie Cunningham.

Up and coming artist Carla Wehbe set the scene with an enchanting live performance of Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys before singing Happy Birthday as Fashion Palette Founder Sonya Mefaddi cut the 30inch ‘Big Apple’ cake made by the renowned bakers Planet Cake. Mefaddi, with a passion to support Australian designers, wore a chic white Alex Perry gown and toasted to the success of the launch of the 2013 program and a fabulous evening.

Thursday marks the fifth annual Fashion Palette Runway Showcase where these talented 16 Australian designers will showcase the first preview for their SS13/14 collections. Final tickets are on sale at www.ticketek.com.au.

Guests flocked to a photobooth station from Flashback Photobooths whilst enjoying canapés & Twisted Frozen yoghurt as well as beverages from Two Italian Boys wine, Vodka O, Vodka Cruisers, 28 Black energy drinks, iced coffee from Illy Issimo, Societe Perrier water, Appletiser and Hahn Super Dry. Each guest received a gift bag as they left the event, which included a Fashiontrend magazine.

Zoe Marshall, Magdalena Roze, Kate Peck and Lauryn Eagle as well as models from Priscillas Models were styled by Schwarzkopf and Bodyography, with the models featuring Minx Nails and lashes by Glam Manicure and wore Peeptoe shoes.

The NYC theme was made possible by the incredible work of the team at Ace Props & Events.

Mini residency - Oscar Jimenez Trio
Yots Café Bar, Australia

Thurs 31 Jan … 4 pm – 7 pm
Thurs 7 and Thur 14 February….5 pm – 8 pm

The Australian National Maritime Museum’s harbour front café bar Yots is kicking into swing this Summer with FREE evening performances by Latin Roots sensations Oscar Jimenez Trio

Yots Café will host a mini residency from the trio on Thursday evenings – 31 January, 7 February and a special Valentine’s performance on 14 February.

Oscar Jiminez is best known as the lead singer of Aria nominated band Watussi. Fresh from his recent performance supporting Spanish Superstar Manu Chao, his appearances at Yots with his trio will feature his own brand of finely crafted, uplifting songs soulfully inspired by his Colombian roots.

And to fit with the music it will be serving a Latin-inspired menu including a delicious range of Tapas and Sangria (usual full bar also available).

Yots Café boasts one of Sydney’s best views – out across the museum fleet in the foreground, Darling Harbour and Sydney’s towering skyline. It’s easily accessible by Sydney Ferry (Pyrmont Bay wharf), bus (Route 443) train (Town Hall station),  monorail (Harbourside stop) or light rail (Pyrmont Bay stop).

And after sunset why not take a walk across Pyrmont Bridge to experience the National Maritime Museum’s major new light show Waves of Migration on its iconic roof? Celebrating the history of migration to Australia, the eight minute show tells the compelling stories of those who’ve come across the seas.

The Australian National Maritime Museum, at 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour, is open daily 9.30 am to 5 pm. Inquiries (02) 9298 3777 or www.anmm.gov.au
