Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Laissez-Faire Catering website (“the Site”) and the catering and event services (“Services”) provided by Laissez-Faire Catering (“Laissez-Faire”, “we”, “us” or “our”), ABN 88 100 328 710, of 30 Birmingham Street, Alexandria NSW 2015, Australia.

By accessing the Site, submitting an enquiry, or engaging us for catering services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site or our Services.
1. About Laissez-Faire
Laissez-Faire is a Sydney-based catering company providing bespoke catering and event services for corporate, government, association, wedding and private events, across a range of partnered venues and client-selected locations throughout Sydney and New South Wales.
2. Use of This Website
You may browse the Site and use it to make enquiries, request quotes, view our menus, venues and gallery, and contact us regarding our Services. You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the Site by, any third party.
While we make reasonable efforts to keep information on the Site (including menus, pricing indications, venue details and imagery) accurate and up to date, all content is provided for general informational purposes and may be changed, updated or removed at any time without notice. Specific menus, pricing and availability for your event will be confirmed directly with you in writing.
3. Enquiries and Quotes
Submitting an enquiry through the Site, by email or by phone does not constitute a confirmed booking. All quotes provided by Laissez-Faire are estimates based on the information provided at the time and are subject to change based on guest numbers, menu selections, venue requirements, service inclusions and seasonal availability of produce.
Quotes are valid for the period stated in the quote, or if no period is stated, for 30 days from the date of issue, after which prices may be revised.
4. Event Bookings and Confirmation
A booking is only confirmed once Laissez-Faire has received your written acceptance of a quote or proposal, together with any required deposit and, where applicable, a signed event order or catering agreement. Until these steps are complete, your preferred date and venue cannot be guaranteed and may be allocated to another client.
Final guest numbers, menu selections and dietary requirements must be confirmed in writing no later than the timeframe specified in your event order (typically [client to confirm: insert number of business days] prior to the event). Where final numbers are not provided within this timeframe, catering will be prepared based on the most recent numbers provided, and charges will be calculated accordingly.
5. Deposits and Payment
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of [client to confirm: insert amount or percentage] of the estimated total is required to secure your event date. This deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.
Final balance: The remaining balance is due [client to confirm: insert number] days prior to your event, unless otherwise agreed in writing. For corporate, government and association clients, alternative payment terms may be arranged on application and confirmed in your event order.
All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and, unless otherwise stated, are inclusive of GST. Payment can be made by the methods specified on your invoice. Late payment may affect our ability to deliver Services as scheduled.
6. Cancellations and Changes
We understand that plans can change, and we will always work with you where possible. However, because event dates involve the reservation of staff, produce and equipment, the following cancellation terms apply unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- Deposits are non-refundable in the event of cancellation, for any reason.
- Cancellations made more than [client to confirm: insert number] days prior to the event may not incur further charges beyond the deposit.
- Cancellations made within [client to confirm: insert number] days of the event may be charged a percentage of the total quoted value, reflecting costs already committed (such as produce, staffing and venue charges).
- Reductions in guest numbers made close to the event date may not result in a reduced final invoice if catering preparations have already commenced.
Where Laissez-Faire is unable to deliver Services due to circumstances within our reasonable control, we will offer an alternative date or a full refund of monies paid.
7. Dietary Requirements and Allergens
We take great care to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances where these are advised to us in writing in advance, in accordance with the timeframes set out in your event order. While we will take all reasonable steps to minimise risk, our kitchens prepare a wide range of dishes and we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from traces of allergens such as nuts, gluten, dairy, shellfish or other substances.
Guests with severe allergies should be made aware of this, and it remains the responsibility of the host and guests to communicate specific dietary needs and to make informed decisions accordingly.
8. Venues and Access
Where an event is held at a partner venue or a venue selected by you, you are responsible for ensuring Laissez-Faire is granted appropriate access for setup, service and pack-down, and for any venue-specific requirements, permits, or restrictions (including kitchen access, power, and operating hours). Additional charges may apply where venue conditions require additional staff, equipment, transport or time beyond what was originally quoted.
Laissez-Faire is not responsible for any conditions, restrictions, faults or failures relating to a venue that are outside our control.
9. Equipment, Property and Damage
Any equipment, crockery, glassware, linen, furniture or other items supplied by Laissez-Faire for an event remain our property and must be returned in the condition provided, fair wear and tear excepted. The client may be charged for any items that are lost, damaged or not returned following an event.
10. Photography and Marketing
Laissez-Faire may take photographs or video of food, styling and event setups for our portfolio, website, social media and marketing purposes. We take care not to capture identifiable guests without consent. If you would prefer that imagery from your event not be used for these purposes, please advise us in writing prior to your event.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site, including text, images, menus, logos, graphics and videos, is owned by or licensed to Laissez-Faire and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or use any content from the Site for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
12. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy conferred on you under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law that cannot be lawfully excluded.
To the extent permitted by law, Laissez-Faire’s liability for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the Site or our Services is limited, at our option, to the resupply of the relevant services or the cost of having those services resupplied. We are not liable for any indirect, special or consequential loss, including loss of profits, arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
13. Privacy
Any personal information you provide to us through the Site or in connection with an enquiry or booking is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at laissez.com.au/privacy, and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
14. Force Majeure
Laissez-Faire will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where this is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, natural disaster, fire, industrial action, government restrictions, public health orders, or failure of venue, supplier or transport providers. Where such circumstances affect a confirmed event, we will work with you in good faith to reschedule or otherwise resolve the matter.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, business practices or legal requirements. Updates will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Site or engagement of our Services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
